Model 8710 Polar Booth series includes an insulated all-weather booth with an integral hot water supply and tempered blending system. Haws offers 119 and 325 gallon storage capacities, as well as an instantaneous steam heat exchanger as options. All tempered water systems incorporate fail-safe features, including anti-scald protection and full flow cold water bypass. It is ideal as a complete stand-alone system, or as a feeder to other remote polar booth substations. Multiple shower systems may be connected with heat-traced lines or pump driven recirculating lines.

Specifications:

  • Enclosure: Exterior and interior skins are protected with a fast curing elastomer coating with UV inhibitors.
  • Walls are insulated with 1-1/2" thick foam which give an approximate R value of 11.
  • Interior and exterior walls are bright yellow with safety green graphics.
  • Large graphics identify the booth as an emergency shower and eye/face wash station, and assist in guiding the user to the double swing doors.
  • The interior space is heated and illuminated to provide for safe user comfort.
  • Grate: Floor grate is fiberglass.
  • Doors: Dual spring-loaded, self-closing with clear 10" x 14" Plexiglass windows.

Multiple Drench Systems:

  • Shower: Model 8129FC 10-5/8" ABS plastic showerhead with integral 20 gpm flow control in Safety Green.
  • Eye/Face Wash: 5 gpm Feather-FloŽ ABS plastic heads.
  • Uses (2) 2.5gpm SP21FC heads.
  • Drench Hose: 3 gpm hose with flag and ball valve.
  • Freeze/Scald Valves: Models SP157A and SP158A.
  • Alarm System: Standard alarm system is flow switch activated, and provides local audible and visible alarms with dry hermetic relay contacts for remote alarm hookup.
  • System includes silencing circuit with auto reset.
  • Area light flashes and alarm sounds upon activation.
  • Flow Switch: 5 amp, DPDT, alarm activation at 2.4 gpm.
  • Blending System: Model TWBS.SH.
  • Water Heater: 4 KW, 240 VAC copper immersion heater or steam heat exchanger.
  • Dual element thermostat with manual reset hi-limit protection.
  • Space Heater: Natural convection 2.5 KW, for hazardous classification; radiant 2.5KW for NEMA4.
  • Lights: 100 Watt, interior clear and exterior green (normally on).
  • Combination shower and eyewash is certified by CSA to meet the ANSI Z358.1 Standard for Emergency Eyewash and Shower Equipment.

Plumbing:

  • Schedule 40 galvanized piping with brass and stainless steel valves.
  • Supply: 1-1/4" IPS.
  • Waste: 3" caulk.

Tank Systems:

  • Option No. 21: 119 gallon tank: Stores enough hot water to provide a single 20 gpm shower for 15 minutes.Recovery time of up to 4 hours.
  • Option No. 22: 119 gallon ASME tank: Stores enough hot water to provide a single 20 gpm shower for 15 minutes. Recovery time of up to 4 hours.
  • Option No. 23: 325 ASME gallon tank: Stores enough hot water to provide two 20 gpm showers for 15 minutes. Recovery time of up to 11 hours. Tank is insulated and jacketed.

Steam Systems:

  • When a steam supply is available, a Haws steam heat exchanger and mixing system is the best approach for efficient tempering, especially with multiple showers or recirculating systems.
  • Standard steam system is sized to provide up to 35 gpm of 80°F (26°C) tempered water, and require no recovery time.
  • Higher flow systems are available. Option No. 24: Steam heat exchanger, feed forward instantaneous heat exchanger.
  • Requires 15 psig, max. 1300 lb/hr. steam supply.

Electrical System Options:

  • Standard system requires 208-240/120 VAC, single-phase, 3 wire and ground, 40 amp electrical supply.
  • Electrical systems can be provided to meet various environmental requirements.
  • Select the electrical option that meets the environmental conditions where the Polar unit is to be installed.
  • Option No. 31: NEMA 4 water/dust tight when tank tempering system is selected.
  • Option No. 32: Class I, Division 2, Group B, C, D and T2B.
  • Option No. 33: Class I, Division 1, Group C, D and T2D.
